Position Summary:
The Interior Alaska Campus is seeking an IT professional to provide support for the campus faculty, staff and students. This is a collaborative position that works directly with students, faculty and staff. The IT Support Tech assures that the hardware and software in personal computers, printers and video conferencing systems remains functional. In addition, the IT Support Tech updates IAC's social media sites with content provided by staff and faculty. This person will also provide expertise and guidance on the selection of software and hardware.

Duties:
10Remain current in software and hardware systems applicable to IAC. This position works with the UAF Office of Information Technology (OIT) to assure the methods used to provide services and expertise are appropriate, current and meet university standards. Provide technical consultation on software and hardware use and selection including reviews and recommendations regarding new or emerging technology. Implement technology solutions within the campus when applicable. Provide technology training for faculty and staff on existing software, hardware and peripheral devices as needed.Essential 15Update IAC's social media sites with information provided by faculty and staff. Ensure that IAC social media content is accessible. Limited content editing. Respond to message requests made to IAC social media platforms and forward as appropriate. Measure and track the effectiveness of current IAC social media outreach. Use professional judgment in monitoring issues, comments, and engagement with users.Essential 20Assure that technology equipment, systems and software remain functional at the administrative center in Fairbanks and rural centers. This will include assessing, installing and upgrading equipment and software used by staff, faculty and students. This includes equipment in computer labs, presentation hardware, and audio conference systems. This position will occasionally travel to rural centers.Essential 20Provide technology support for IAC students. This includes providing student support in order to assure that students are able to access and use software, hardware and university systems to successfully engage in distance and on-site delivery of educational instruction. Provide IT help desk support during pre-established hours, which may include evenings. Provide enhanced technical support for students enrolled in the Content Creator Program classes. Aid Content Creator Program students with advice on hardware, software and platform recommendations for social media projects.Essential 30Provide technology support for Interior Alaska Campus (IAC) faculty and staff members. Install and configure personal computers and laptops systems, peripheral devices, applications and other software or hardware needed to provide administrative, academic and students support functions. This includes troubleshooting existing equipment and systems. It also includes pre-class support to assure that equipment needed to conduct classes such as Smartboards and student computers are ready and available before class sessions begin.Essential 5Keep a log that details tech support requests and problem resolution. Track hardware and software purchases and retain records. Keep an updated inventory of equipment at all IAC locations. Compile data for program activities each semester. Attend regular Title III meetings and provide data and reports to grant program manager. Attend meetings and provide reports and data at the request of the position Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
This position will be required to be proficient in Microsoft Suite and Google Apps for Mac and Windows systems.

Be able to assess technology problems and address problems with personal computers, printers and video conferencing systems.

Be able to upload and monitor content on social media platforms.

Have the skills and knowledge to be able to work effectively with diverse populations, people with a low level of technical competency, and students using a wide variety of systems and software and with limited connectivity.

Required Experience & Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (i.e. Information Technology or other related fields) and a minimum of 2 years experience in a technology support field, experience with social media, or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Salary Information:

This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://alaska.edu/jobs/benefits.php. New hires will be placed on the https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/compensation/files/fy24_staff_salary_grid.pdf, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
