What does Yukon Equipment Inc. do?

Yukon Equipment specializes in sales of new and used construction equipment, repairs, rentals, parts, and service. Find everything you need for backhoes, excavators, skid steers, wheel loaders, bulldozers, equipment trailers, forklifts, and tractors.

 

What can you expect?

As the Parts Specialist/Shipping and Receiving Clerk, you will work onsite in Anchorage, AK and will be responsible for equipment and parts sales, including purchasing parts, stocking inventory, ordering, and payments for all part sales in person, or via phone, email, and mail. You will also be responsible for maintaining a parts inventory and all pertinent records. Additionally, you will be responsible for processing purchase orders, materials requests, and requisitions, and ensuring organized and efficient pick-up and delivery of parts, supplies, and miscellaneous materials for delivery to customers, the shop, and job sites.

 

How will you do it?

  • Pick up and deliver parts, supplies, and materials as directed.
  • Receive and document parts, supplies, and materials, and organize systematically.
  • Determine the most effective routes for delivering materials daily proactively.
  • Process paperwork, including requisition forms, packing slips, purchase orders, etc., in an accurate, detailed, and organized manner.
  • Prepare shipments for delivery to field job sites.
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as a forklift, etc., to complete daily assignments.
  • Monitor stock and perform inventory and cycle counts to ensure a balanced inventory of parts and to adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence. 
  • Complete warehouse stock orders as needed.
  • Oversee the purchasing of supplies and materials.
  • Oversee special orders for parts in a timely manner, consistent with Company policy.
  • Analyze sales, expenses, and inventory to maintain profit goals.
  • Maintain a record of all sales and customer transactions.
  • Maintain information on parts and products from vendors.
  • Manage and process invoices and requisitions to ensure merchandise is received accurately and billed accordingly.
  • Assist management in reviewing and establishing pricing parameters in each customer category that generate sufficient gross profit to produce a satisfactory profit while maintaining customer loyalty.
  • Provide excellent customer service, monitoring, and enforcing guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Handle customer complaints immediately in accordance with the Company’s guidelines.
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that may affect parts sales.
  • Participate in Company training.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory Functions:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge and experience in heavy-duty equipment and parts.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and parts distribution systems.
  • Understanding of purchasing processes, vendor relations, and supply chain logistics.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Independent thinker that can generate suggestions for improving workflow, present ideas, and information in a manner that gets the job done efficiently. 
  • Possess basic mathematical skills such as the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal points.
  • Ability to be consistently at work, and on time, and must use time effectively during scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to actively listen and provide high-quality customer service.
  • Ability to do business ethically with customers, vendors, and co-workers. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, and before a group of people.
  • Ability to utilize a standard desktop computer or laptop, with working knowledge of standard business applications; Microsoft Office knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to learn new processes and computer applications. 
  • Ability to learn and understand the Company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and ensure records are completed in an accurate manner.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes some overtime.
  • Ability to follow instructions, respond to management directions; take responsibility for own actions; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
  • Ability to identify parts, and basic understanding of such.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor transport vehicle.
  • Ability to work in a Native Corporation multi-business environment.

 

Who is Yukon Equipment looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ related experience working around a Construction Shop, Construction Site, or Rental Equipment operation.
  • Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company’s Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass drug, driving and background screening.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) – six (6) years’ related experience preferred.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment, specifically a forklift, preferred. 

 

Working Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The work environment is typically fast paced and customer service oriented. At times, work is performed outside of the office at indoor and outdoor job sites.  Adaptability regarding schedule, and occasional overtime for immediate support may be necessary.
