What can you expect?

As the Laborer, you will work on-site by reporting to the Fairbanks office and will primarily be working on projects within Alaska. You will perform tasks involving physical labor including operating hand/power tools of all types: small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. You will clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, remove asbestos, lead, and other hazardous waste materials after appropriate training and certifications. You may assist other craft workers for duties as assigned.

 

How will you do it?

  • General manual labor to include use of hand tools and provide manual during excavation activities, clean-up or construction activities.
  • Identify any hazards as observed for safety of personnel and equipment
  • Requires the ability to properly wear, use, and maintain personal respirator equipment and other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) on HAZWOPER sites or other sites as needed
  • Monitor job site for hazards and maintain a safe working environment
  • Possess good housekeeping skills with attention to detail to prevent hazards and to reduce personal exposure and potential spreading of hazardous contaminants
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by site superintendent, other craft laborers or management

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Who is Brice Engineering looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Brice Engineering's Driving Policy preferred.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools including their uses, repair and maintenance and practical applications preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
  • Asbestos 40-hour certification preferred.
  • HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • Experience in the construction industry preferred.
