JOB SUMMARY

The HR Specialist is responsible for full-cycle recruiting and hiring activities, processing employee actions, managing personnel records, and special HR projects as needed. This position educates and advises managers on recruiting, interviewing and selection practices. Committed to providing a positive and memorable candidate experience.

The HR Specialist must be able to communicate clearly, listen actively, and effectively convey information to both candidates and clients.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of administrative experience with at least one (1) year in Human Resources preferred, OR a combination of education and work experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to deal with sensitive information in a discrete and professional manner.
  • Must be able to pass the company’s pre-employment process including a criminal background check, drug test, and basic physical.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, or a related field
  • Prior experience working with applicant tracking and/or HR information systems.
  • Must be detail oriented. Excellent organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws including FLSA, ADA, FMLA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Effectively manage the full cycle recruiting process for assigned positions/requisitions.
  • Create requisitions in the company’s Applicant Tracking system and post jobs to appropriate job boards/portals/newspapers/colleges, etc.
  • Responsible for advanced sourcing techniques such as social media networking, affiliation connections, and school or military partnerships.
  • Educate potential applicants about company services, benefits, and job or career opportunities.
  • Review resumes/job applications, conduct phone screenings and schedule interviews while maintaining open communication with prospective candidates through this process.
  • In collaboration with hiring manager(s), extend verbal and written offer letters.
  • Initiate, monitor and review pre-employment screens including: criminal background checks, drug tests, and physicals/functional capacity evaluations.
  • Facilitate New Hire Orientation and process new hires according to established procedures.
  • Lead regular debrief meetings with managers regarding the number and status of open requisitions. Update managers on candidate progress and/or recruiting challenges.
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience through prompt and professional communications.
  • Participate in recruitment events and job fairs.
  • Research and develop new opportunities to recruit the workforce.
  • Advise hiring managers on interviewing, hiring, and candidate evaluation.
  • Perform administrative and recordkeeping tasks related to staffing changes (i.e. promotions, pay changes, terminations, etc.), and extended leaves of absence.
  • Conduct or assist with record audits and mandatory reports, which may include I-9 audits, EEO-1 filings, payroll audits, and other compliance reviews.
  • Assist with special HR projects and provide back-up support to the Human Resources Team.
  • Perform any other duties assigned or requested.
