Position Summary:

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is seeking a Clinical or Counseling Psychologist to fill a tenure-track, beginning-level Assistant Professor position with teaching responsibilities in our undergraduate and graduate programs (MS in Clinical Psychology and APA accredited PhD in Clinical-Community Psychology).

 

Duties:

Conduct instructional, research and service activities as part of the workload. The teaching component of the workload will be a mix of undergraduate and graduate courses. Specific teaching load will depend upon a successful applicant's expertise and departmental needs. Graduate courses may include Human Development in a Cultural Context, Intervention I, Group Therapy, Family Therapy, Child Clinical Psychology, Children's Mental Health Systems of Care, Applied Psychological Assessment, and the Biological and Pharmacological Bases of Behavior. Undergraduate courses may include Psychopathology, Clinical Psychology, and Health Psychology. Faculty member is expected to develop a program of research consistent with his or her area of specialization, conduct student mentorship and conduct service to the department and university. Faculty are expected to hold office hours appropriate for the course(s) being taught. Candidate will teach and work with diverse populations.Essential

The Department of Psychology at the University of Alaska Anchorage offers undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs aimed at preparing students: (1) for advanced study in the social and health sciences, and (2) to become members of the behavioral health workforce. The department also maintains the Psychological Services Center, a clinic that provides low cost mental health services to campus and community members. The department strives to offer degree and certificate programs that meet the needs of the state of Alaska. Typical Experience:

Length of time and type of experience required for this position should be appropriate to the rank of tenure track assistant professor. Applicants must have university-level teaching experience and record of research and publication or demonstrated potential for research and publication.

 

Required Education or Training:

Doctoral degree in Clinical, Counseling, or Clinical-Community Psychology from an APA accredited program at the time of hire and be licensed or be license-eligible in Alaska. ABDs will be considered but employment is contingent on conferral of degree by time of hire in August 2023.

 

Salary Information:

 

This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure track, faculty position complete with both a competitive salary (DOE) and https://alaska.edu/jobs/benefits.php, with an expected start date in August 2023.
