The School of Arts & Sciences is seeking a Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for the University of Alaska Southeast's largest regional academic unit. As a senior-level administrator for the School of Arts & Sciences, The Chief Financial and Administrative Officer is responsible for fiscal and operational management in support of the faculty, staff, and leadership.

This academic division is comprised of four regional departments that offer a wide variety of degree and certificate programs and all of the institution's General Education Requirements (GERs) from the Juneau, Ketchikan, and Sitka campuses. The successful candidate can manage competing responsibilities and be responsive to members of the School and campus community. Knowledge of academic administration is preferred. A successful candidate will encompass the following skills and abilities:

• Advance knowledge of accounting theory and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Fiscal financial or budget analysis skills that include knowledge/use of spreadsheet, database, and query development tools.
• Knowledge of UA fiscal rules and regulations is preferred.
• Familiarity with grants and restricted funds management.
• Strong project management skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform independent research.
• Experience with process improvement techniques and demonstrated effectiveness in managing in a culture of change and/or transition.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in accounting, statistics, or a related field is required. Three years of progressively responsible fiscal experience in, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.

Master's degree in business administration, public administration, or management related field is preferred. Professional Licensure in CPA or CFM is preferred. Previous experience in higher education is preferred. Experience successfully working with people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds is preferred.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAS campus in Juneau, AK, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage.
