Position Summary:

The Office of Admissions seeks an Admissions Specialist to join our operations team. The Admissions Specialists play a critical role in fulfilling the operational needs of the university. Duties:

Additional duties: Provide customer service by phone and in person in the Enrollment Services lobby as well as responding to email inquiries. Active listening to questions is imperative to understanding and assisting students through the admissions process. Participate in the analysis of database (Banner, Salesforce) functions. Perform process tests for bi-annual software upgrades in multiple programs. Make recommendations for software corrections and enhancements. Assist with special projects within admissions operations. Actively participate in staffing on campus admission events led by UAA admissions (Examples include: Academic Preview Day, UAA Junior Day).

Applications and decisions: Process applications for admission for undergraduate, graduate, and international students using professional judgment to determine the eligibility for admission for each applicant. Use research skills to determine ensure admissions record is complete prior to admit decision. Determine residency status for tuition purposes. Maintain confidentiality of all student records according to federal law. Work in Banner Student database, Onbase imaging and Salesforce CRM to communicate with students and provide notifications for admission status and needed documentation. Respond to incoming student communications to provide information regarding admission policies and processes, research and troubleshoot possible admission problems, and process student and/or department requested changes to the application.Prepare accurate and timely communications with students, faculty, and program staff to address infrequent admission circumstances.

Process incoming documents: Review and assess submitted academic credentials, test scores, and other required documents for admissions, according to university policy and procedures. As a team evaluate exceptions and escalate when appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:Demonstrate effective customer service skills including a positive attitude and the use of active listening and analytical skills.
Ability to accurately enter data.
Time management skills necessary to organize a high volume, detail-oriented workload under the pressure of deadlines.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Adaptable to new technology and computer systems.
Have a thorough understanding of FERPA and confidentiality policies.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions and minimal supervision.
Experience with a customer/consumer database management system.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Three years of professional experience with at least one year being in a professional office setting.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Associates degree required. Bachelor degree preferred. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.

SALARY INFORMATION:

This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
