POSITION SUMMARY

Under supervision of the Director of Finance, the Accounting Technician performs accounting and financial management functions according to standard operating procedures. These tasks include processing accounts payable invoices, contributions/donations entry, grant check review and mailing, creating/maintaining donor profiles, filing, and customer service as required. This position also includes special projects related to the ongoing strategy of the financial department as required. This is a full-time main office position and is not approved for hybrid or remote work.

 

Knowledge of basic accounting principles and accounting software required. Basic computer and intermediate Microsoft office skills are required, as well as an aptitude and interest in developing these skills further. Must be flexible, organized, able to manage a fast pace, possess effective communication skills, and can work well with the Foundation team.

 

Your Impact

You provide financial support services, administrative support to the Finance team and other Foundation staff, and client services.

 

Financial and Administrative Support Duties:

  • Process received payables invoices, including verifying the accuracy of the documentation and balances, verify department/CFO approval and Fund/GL coding and entry into the accounting system.
  • Establish and maintain vendor and payables files, including requesting vendor W9’s as required.
  • Input gift (donation) records into the accounting system.
  • Create/maintain donor profiles as required.
  • Create invoices related to Pick.Click.Give applications.
  • Scan, copy and prepare for mailing checks related to the Pick.Click.Give distributions.
  • Prepare accounts receivable invoices as needed for the BPEC Reservations, record in accounting system.
  • Input Stripe, check and cash payments for BPEC Reservations in accounting system.
  • Review, scan, copy and mail all weekly grant, scholarship and payables checks.
  • Process monthly Hilcorp/Harvest Giving Program profile demographic updates.
  • Mailing of Quarterly paper Fund Statements.
  • Responds to donor, vendor, and staff requests for account information (customer service).
  • Assist the Finance team in managing the finance@ email address.

 

Client Services:

  • Respond to client inquiries as directed.
  • Process gifts, maintain contact information, and create entries using the Foundation’s database software.
  • Maintain donor confidentiality.

Position Qualifications

  • Highschool Diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least two (2) year of accounting experience.
  • Currently pursuing an associate degree or bachelor’s degree in an Accounting or Finance field of study.
  • Experience with database software programs.
  • Strong computer skills, including direct experience with a customer management system and Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.).
  • Ability to adhere to processes and procedures around database entry maintenance and coding.

 

Preferences

  • Experience in non-profit accounting and fund accounting.
  • Experience with complex database systems.
  • Customer Service skills appreciated.

The salary range is commensurate with experience and expertise relative to the position qualifications.
