The Department of Residence Life (DRL) at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic candidate for a full-time, 1-year term (4-year max.), 11 month/year Residence Coordinator position. The Residence Coordinator is a live-in, master's degree-level professional responsible for the operation of one of our residential campus living areas. This position requires the Residence Coordinator to reside in an assigned, fully furnished on-campus apartment throughout the term of their appointment. Compensation for this position includes year-round housing and a full meal plan at no cost to the employee. This position reports directly to the Director of Residence Life, and works in concert with a team of professionals to shape the environment and experiences of the residential student population; provide direct support to residents by connecting them to academic, leadership and social engagement opportunities; provide services and programs focused on UAA's Residential Curriculum; and strengthen residents' sense of belonging at UAA. We are seeking to fill two (2) positions!

The Department of Residence Life seeks to make available safe, comfortable and affordable housing options to students at UAA working toward their academic goals. The programs, services and activities we offer are designed to complement students' educational experiences and achieve the educational priority outlined in our Residential Curriculum. Our Living Learning Communities and housing programs connect students with people, programs and activities that support their educational and career goals, celebrate the diverse identities held by our students and connect them to the institution through their peers and detailed resource sharing. Residence Life provides staff the opportunity to work with a Faculty-in-Residence program, Gender Inclusive Housing, a comprehensive first-year experience program, the Alaska Native, Indigenous and Rural Outreach Program, as well as exciting collaborative programming initiatives with campus partners and specialized assignments.

The Department of Residence Life and the Division of Campus Service work closely together to ensure that all aspects of the residential student experience, from housing applications to facility maintenance, and from social engagement to academic success, are intentionally addressed. We are looking for a teammate that believes that is our job to provide our diverse student population access to the best possible experience they can have.

Resident Coordinators serve as Campus Security Authorities in compliance with federal law, specifically the Clery Act, and serve as Responsible Employees as designated in Regents' Policy and University Regulation and in compliance with federal law, specifically Title IX. All residential staff members will be set up as Authorized Adults working with Minors—successful candidates will need to complete Protection of Minors training, Campus Security Authority training, sign a code of conduct, complete a background check and reference check related to working with minors, in addition to other certifications.

Special Conditions:
Finalists must complete an Authorization for Release of Information form and receive satisfactory background check results as a condition of employment. This position has a 4-year term limit.

A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.

Position Details:
This position is located on the UA campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience, starting at $27.06/hourly ($2,164.80/pay period). Anticipated start date 7/14/2024. Includes a furnished apartment and meals.
