We're a close-knit team that celebrates diversity and collaboration. As an Employee Relations Specialist, you'll be the bridge between our organization and our valued employees. You'll collaborate regularly with managers to enhance performance and address any issues, while also serving as a compliance champion, ensuring adherence to employment laws and regulations.

 

Having proven experience in an employee relations position (or a similar role) is essential. The demonstrated ability to handle employee-related matters effectively and professionally is key! To thrive in the employment specialist role, you'll have an in-depth understanding of employment laws (federal and state), regulations and compliance. This includes familiarity with labor laws, anti-discrimination laws, and workplace policies.

 

As a member of the Employee Relations team, you'll interact regularly with employees, leadership and other stakeholders across the university. As such, we are looking for applicants with outstanding interpersonal and written communication skills to help facilitate effective communication, conflict resolution and relationship-building. Having excellent organization skills and meticulous attention to detail to ensure that investigations are conducted properly and in a timely manner is also vitally important.Employee relations often involve addressing challenges, conflicts, and complex situations. Minimum Qualifications:

 

Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, business, or similar experience. Advanced professional writing experience required. Investigation experience preferred. Demonstration of professional writing professional writing experience, with skills to compile evidence, and write timely, clear, concise investigative reports.

 

Bachelor's degree with courses and degree emphasis in Labor and Employee Relations, Human Resources, Communication, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Master's Degree preferred.

 

Position Details:

 

This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/compensation/files/fy24_staff_salary_grid.pdf, Grade 80, based on education and experience.

 

This position is open to hybrid/remote work within the United States.
