This is a regular field‐exempt Valdez based position that requires 14‐day on/14‐day off rotational schedule. Point of departure is Anchorage, Fairbanks, or Valdez.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet or exceed these minimum job requirements to apply for this position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Four years of advanced engineering experience (discipline, maintenance, process, or project engineering)
  • General knowledge of industry codes, standards, and government regulations
  • General knowledge of the petrochemical or pipeline industry
  • Broad knowledge of operations and maintenance concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Well‐developed leadership skills and the ability to use engineering judgement to provide technical guidance and quality decisions
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills

Preferences:

  • Eight years of related work experience in the application of engineering principles for the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of physical infrastructure and/or knowledge of multiple of areas of discipline
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Pipeline / Oil and Gas experience
  • TAPS engineering, operations, or maintenance experience

Accountabilities and Specific Requirements - Under the general direction of the Site Engineering Manager, the Engineer is accountable for the following job role:

The Site Engineer is recognized at the highest level of engineering accountability and serves the role of the system engineer for their assigned areas. This role represents an engineer recognized as an experienced professional, who defines and directs the actions required to implement strategic plans and initiatives. The Site Engineer is proficient in a broad range of functional areas (e.g. cathodic protection, rotating equipment, valves, project engineering, etc.) and conveys indepth knowledge in own engineering discipline and broad knowledge of related disciplines to drive their system understanding and ability to make authoritative decisions and recommendations.

  • The Site Engineer provides technical validation and sanctioning for maintenance/ modification requests and engineering scopes of work.
  • They provide a concept to completion technical view of modifications on TAPS.
  • The Site Engineer is a process safety steward champion for the assigned site and accountable for approval of change management (MOC) for all changes at assigned site or asset including closeout and to ensure all process safety information is kept up to date (drawings, technical manuals, training documents)
  • The Site Engineer is a risk champion and is a key participant to support risk assessments for site (HAZOP, PHA, etc). 
  • They identify best practices and opportunities for improvement in reliability, efficiency, and safety.
  • The role will support facility start‐ups / shutdowns and other unusual operations including final field review of engineered changes for startup. Risk analysis and understanding the role requires high‐level communication skills across all levels of the organization to clearly articulate technical issues and lead solutions to complex problems that require internal and external stakeholders and contributes further as a mentor and as a resource for non‐engineering personnel and organizations.
  • They recommend final direction with collaborative input, making risk informed decisions and recommendations, and have the responsibility to act interdependently across the organization.
  • They are the immediate engineer on site for technical consultation, emergency site response and coordination.

Expectations for the successful candidate for this job include logical thinkers who are multi task oriented, well organized, efficient at information processing, and can consistently make critical decisions quickly and correctly. They must have the ability to perform effectively under stress, both working independently and collaboratively across teams.
