Position Summary:
Be the person who encourages and supports students seeking college classes. We are hiring a friendly organized person with tech skills to help students get the education they want. Full-time. 10 months. Includes benefits and tuition waivers you and for immediate family members.
Duties:
1-60Direct Student Support: Proactively provide students with information including, course registration opportunities, financial assistance, and deadline reminders. As an expert in UAOnline, mentor students step-by-step side-by-side so they can: access UAOnline, apply for admission, register for classes, pay bills, take placement tests, understand account “holds”, utilize DegreeWorks, and access/navigate all areas of UAOnline. Collaborate to create individual study plans, provide academic advising, and track degree/credential progress. Proctor exams. Mentor & support students step-by-step side-by-side to: order student textbooks & supplies, navigate UAF's Student Service Departments, and use Nanook Navigator. Connect students with non-educational services (social services, Job Center, etc.) and direct students to the proper resources outside of the University for support.Essential 2-30Student Services: Register students, provide registration forms (paper and electronic), collect forms and check for completeness, process registration forms, and provide to them the College of Rural and Community Development (CRCD). Deposit student payments & write receipts. Attend regularly scheduled meetings (campus-wide, course & event planning, student services, etc). Answer and direct calls, greet and direct campus visitors. Assist planning & facilitating student centered events such as graduation, open house events, financial aid events, and student life enrichment events.Essential 3-10Administrative Duties: Refill postage machine as needed, pick up freight or coordinate freight pick up, and update directory. Order equipment and supplies. Ship outgoing and distribute incoming equipment and supplies.Essential
If you are comfortable with computers and have the desire to help others get their education, apply to join the Bristol Bay Campus team. This student centered position specializes at navigating the University online system and works with students to access all available supports. Strong interpersonal skills are required to be an educational coach.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Ability to patiently mentor students of all ages and backgrounds. Excellent customer service and communication skills required for virtual and in-person meetings. Computer proficiency: Must be able to use Google suite and patiently mentor students to navigate UAF's online resources (UAOnline, Blackboard, Degreeworks, etc.). Requires the ability to learn UAF's procedures. Must have organizational skills and attention to detail to document/track student data.
Typical Experience:
Three years progressively responsible office/administrative experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Experience: Familiar with communities and culture in the Bristol Bay and Aleutian Pribilof regions. Experience using Google suite or Microsoft Office suite, and virtual meeting programs. Experience using UAOnline.
Required Education or Training:
Associate's degree and one year relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of
training and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Salary Information:
This is a full-time, 10-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://alaska.edu/jobs/benefits.php.
