COVID Compliance Teacher’s Aide


Position Summary:
The COVID Compliance Teacher’s Aide is responsible for working one-on-one with a student(s) diagnosed with special needs that need a little extra assistance in completing educational tasks. There is no medical care required; however, assistance in following COVID-19 Operational Guidelines for the school is of paramount importance to this position to keep students and staff safe. The COVID Compliance Teacher’s Ade is responsible for encouraging a positive educational atmosphere for the student(s) to provide them with the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological growth in a multi-age setting, regardless of race, economic background, religious preference, gender or nationality. The Covid Compliance Teacher’s Aide is required to participate in Ahtna language lessons and cultural activities and encourage the student’s participation. It is important that all staff members work the majority of their hours in the office. The office for the Covid Compliance Teacher’s Aide position is in Sutton in the Ya Ne Dah Ah School. This is a benefitted 40 hours per week position.

 

Qualifications, Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED is the minimum requirement for this position. A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred. At least one year of experience in caring for children in some capacity; tutoring and working with students with special needs is required. Internship, practicum, and volunteer hours will be considered in lieu of work experience. American Red Cross/CPR certification is required; however, training will be provided by CVTC.

 

ALCOHOL AND DRUG TESTING:
New hires for this position are subject to pre-hire alcohol/drug testing. This position is subject to random alcohol/drug testing.
 

BACKGROUND CHECK:
A federal and state background check is required for this position. Background checks will be conducted every two years as a condition of employment
 

AN/AI Preference:
As allowed in P.L. 93-638, preference for employment will be given to Alaska Native and American Indian Peoples.
