The School of Allied Health in the College of Health at the University of Alaska Anchorage is seeking two (2) full-time, Term Instructors or Assistant Professors to teach Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) courses. Applicants must be a licensed registered nurse with relevant long-term care experience and prior experience in CNA education.
The Certified Nurse Aide program prepares students to sit for the Alaska Certified Nurse Aide examination in 16 weeks. Students who complete will, once certified, will have the knowledge and skills for entry into high demand careers in the healthcare industry. Offering the CNA course allows us to make an important contribution to the College of Health's mission to advance the health and wellbeing of people and communities.
To thrive in this role, the applicant must possess the following skills: Didactic and/or clinical teaching experience in a certified nurse aide program. Prior teaching experience, with a commitment to student-centered learning, student engagement, and teaching excellence. Experience leading or working in a diverse workforce in a multi-cultural setting. Knowledge of current AK Certified Nurse Aide scope of practice. Experience in student evaluation and outcomes assessment. Commitment to and the ability to work effectively within the scope of the College of Health mission and to work with a diverse student and staff population. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Computer literacy. Currency in contemporary nursing/nursing aide practice. Knowledge of contemporary curricular content for the education of the Certified Nurse Aide.
Additional qualities that would help an applicant stand out are as follows: Successful citizen partnership skills and experience maintaining partnerships with private and public agencies and organizations, including advisory boards. Familiarity with Certified Nurse Aide training considerations and needs in Alaska.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of an associate's degree and licensure as a Registered Nurse.
Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, 9-month, term-funded faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options; Faculty Time Off; 12 paid holidays per year; tuition waivers for employees and family members; affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage; and representation under a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Salary will be based upon applicable academic preparation and experience.
