Position Summary

The Barback (Bartender Assistant) supports bartenders and ensures smooth, efficient bar operations in a fast-paced hospitality environment. This role focuses on maintaining a clean, well-stocked bar, delivering excellent guest service, and assisting with preparation tasks to keep service running seamlessly.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Restock and replenish bar inventory including liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and ice.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including countertops, shelves, sinks, and storage areas.
  • Assist bartenders with preparing garnishes, juices, and basic drink components.
  • Collect and wash glassware throughout shifts; restock clean glasses promptly.
  • Remove trash, recycle materials, and maintain overall bar sanitation according to health and safety standards.
  • Organize storage rooms and rotate stock to ensure freshness.
  • Support bartenders during peak hours by running drinks, delivering supplies, and clearing the bar top.
  • Ensure bar tools and equipment are clean, functional, and properly stored.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up stations and breaking down the bar at the end of the shift.
  • Provide excellent customer service by maintaining a friendly, helpful, and professional demeanor.
  • Communicate effectively with bartenders, supervisors, and other team members to ensure seamless service.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and special events as required.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma and/or GED required.
  • A valid Driver’s License
  • Strong work ethics and ability to work quickly in a high-volume environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (cases and supplies).
  • Basic knowledge of bar operations is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and move for long periods.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from bartenders and supervisors.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to acquire TAPS Card prior to employment
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism
  • Excellent communication, and organizational skills
  • Respond to common inquiries from guests.
  • Ability to deal with inebriated customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned
