The University of Alaska Anchorage, School of Allied Health seeks an individual who will work in a collaborative/interdisciplinary teaching environment in the delivery of Allied Health courses within the UAA Surgical Technology programs. The faculty member appointed to this position will provide didactic education to Allied Health students with an emphasis on Surgical Technology related courses. The ideal candidate will possess the following credentials: CST. This position supports the University of Alaska bipartite mission of performing teaching and service.
This position offers a dynamic opportunity to educate and inspire future surgical technologists through both didactic and clinical teaching in a Surgical Technology program. We are seeking an individual committed to student-centered learning and teaching excellence, who can engage students effectively and foster their professional growth. The role requires working collaboratively within a diverse, multicultural workforce and demonstrates a deep understanding of the current surgical technology scope of practice. Candidates should align with the College of Health's mission, show strong communication skills, possess computer literacy, and be knowledgeable in contemporary surgical technology and curriculum design. A background in contemporary nursing or nursing aide practices is also valued, ensuring comprehensive support for student development in the field.
To thrive in this role, a candidate should bring substantial experience in Surgical Technology, either as an operating room scrub technologist or as an instructor in surgical technology within the last decade. The role demands teaching expertise in Surgical Technology, with a strong commitment to fostering student-centered learning, engagement, and teaching excellence. Demonstrated success in using instructional technologies to enhance learning and a clear, effective communication style are essential. Experience in leading or working collaboratively within a diverse, multicultural workforce will further enhance success in this position, supporting an inclusive and effective learning environment.

-Current NCCA-approved credential in surgical technology (CST)
Preferred Qualifications:
-Master's degree in a related field
-NBSTSA certification preferred, though certification from NCCT will also be considered
Position Details:
This position is a term funded, Assistant Professor rank, 9-months per year (mid August-mid May), complete with full employee https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, paid holidays, affordable medical, dental and vision coverage, as well as tuition waivers for employees and family members. Faculty salary is based upon the level of academic appointment, applicable preparation, and experience.
