An Assistant Resident Director is a para-professional, live-in member of the Department of Residence Life who reports to the Resident Director who is responsible for the daily operation/management and supervision of a residence hall(s) or apartment buildings. ARDs coordinate with their supervisor to insure administrative records including occupancy accuracy, staff supervision and training, maintenance requests and follow up, budgets, key control and security, activity logs, and student information.

 

- Ability to assist residents with developmental issues/concerns typical to college students

- Conflict resolution skills.

- Use of common word processing and spreadsheet software applications.

- Ability to communicate effectively with all types of people.

- Ability to understand work to be done, organize that work and delegate tasks to staff members appropriately.

- Ability to coordinate programs and process, and to synthesize them into successful student and departmental services.

- Ability to analyze information and to problem-solve.

- Knowledge of, and ability to work within, a University environment with all of its constituencies.

- Ability to work independently and use sound judgment to make decisions.

- Ability to be an effective mentor to students and to appropriately advise university students about personal and vocational choices, including advising them as to what departments might be able to more effectively assist them with their particular issues.

 

- Applicants must have a cumulative and semester grade point average of 2.0 or above at the time of application and start date.

- Applicants must have unrestricted employment authorization in the United States.

- Applicants must complete all UAF employee Required Training (including Safety training, Title IX, Protection of minors, Campus Security Authority, and FERPA) within two weeks of their hire date.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

- 2.5 cumulative GPA, 2.3 semester GPA

- 1 year (2 semesters) Residence Life or transferable experience

- Must be a full-time student at UAF (12 undergraduate credits / 9 graduate credits).

- All applicants will have their University Student Conduct record reviewed, and this review will be taken into consideration during the application/interview process.

- Must be available to work for the duration of the ARD contract period. Contract dates are subject to change.

 

Position Details:

Salary Information:

This is a full-time Student Position with a bi-weekly stipend amount of $448.00 ($16.00/hr)
