Position Summary:

Duties:
Typical functions in support of the program including: prepare and get metal for the students as needed, monitor and change bottle of gases as needed, troubleshoot and make simple repairs to equipment during class as needed, maintain small tool inventory, keep tools in proper condition for safe use, organize tools in an orderly manner for students to locate as needed, maintain a timely and running inventory of tools and materials for faculty to order as necessary, assist faculty in shop setup on a daily basis so students are able to go to work at the beginning of class, ensure clean up of the welding shop and stations, assist with faculty to student ratio for welding skills practice. Other duties to help maintain the welding shop as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge of technical area of expertise, experience sufficient to perform the duties required by the program. Successful candidate(s) for this position must have:

• Experience with supplies, hand and power tools, and equipment (such as iron worker and , band saws), used in welding.

• Experience with gasses used in welding environments (such as acetylene, oxygen , blue shield and argon.)

• Ability to assist with assessing and maintaining welding shop safety.

• Ability to work as a team player.

• Ability to communicate effectively with both faculty and students, both orally and in writing.

• Ability to work with students from diverse populations.

• Ability to make sound judgments and to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Experience & Education:
- Experience commensurate with the position responsibilities within a welding or manufacturing shop, or equivalent.
- Experience working with welding machines, tools and equipment, preferred.
- Welding experience preferred.

Required Experience & Education:
Educational / vocational experience in subject area sufficient to perform the typical duties as required by program coordinator.

Salary Information:

This is a part-time, on-call, temporary non-exempt position. Salaries begin at $20.47 and are based on education and experience.
