General Functions

This position is responsible for various accounting activities involving multiple properties as assigned within the Finance/Accounting Department including, but not limited to general ledger reconciliations, accounts payable reconciliations, cash receipts, bank reconciliations, and audit preparation for various companies.

Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)

  • Prepare journal entries for cash receipts and post to tenant ledgers.
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts for multiple properties.
  • Create recurring journal entries and adjusting journal entries as needed.
  • Completes bank reconciliations for multiple properties.
  • Creates bank transfers or check requests for cash management.
  • Responsible for loan payments and journal entries.
  • Respond to compliance audit requests.
  • Update all balance sheet schedules on a monthly basis and provide to management as needed.
  • Assists in maintaining and updating financial procedures as needed.
  • Performs data entry.
  • Assists in month end and year end activities to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Assists in audit preparation for multiple companies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

  • Experienced in all aspects of general bookkeeping.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple assignments.
  • Self starter with ability to solve problems with minimal direction/supervision.
  • Ability to work in deadline-driven environments.
  • Experience working with MS Office products with emphasis in Excel and Word.
  • Experience working with automated accounting software packages.
  • Experience working with MRI Software preferred.
  • Experience working in property management accounting preferred
  • Ability to type 40 words a minute and to operate 10-key by touch.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or 2+ years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and applicable work experience.
