Janitor


Responsibilities

  • Interact with clients and staff members in a manner that is respectful and empowering

Essential Functions

  • Service, clean, sanitize, empty trash, and supply restrooms
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and buffing
  • Pack up and discard items left by clients when they exit shelter
  • Deep clean rooms as clients exit shelter, to include cleaning out refrigerator/freezer, cleaning bathroom, cleaning kitchen area, sweeping and mopping floors
  • Maintain house laundry, to include the laundering of donated linens and laundering linens as clients move out
  • Restock empty client rooms with fresh bed linens and towels
  • Dusting and cleaning all shelter vents
  • Dusting, vacuuming, and maintaining all common area furniture
  • Cleaning and maintaining staff refrigerators as needed
  • Steam clean carpets as needed
  • Assist in the disposal of donations and trash as needed
  • Clean and maintain all common client areas, to include client kitchen, playrooms and living areas
  • Wash walls as needed
  • Clean windows, glass partitions and mirrors
  • Stock and maintain all cleaning supply closets
  • Other duties as assigned by the Client Services Director

Minimum Qualifications

  • A demonstrated understanding of janitorial services
  • Must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED
  • Committment to the agency's mission and goals
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Valid Alaska Driver's License
  • Excellent interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to pass background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years experience in a janitorial position
  • Experience working in a residential setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of janitorial methods, practices, materials, tools, occupational hazards and safety precautions of janitorial work.

Supervision: Directly responsible to the Operations Director

Hours: Full Time, Mon -Friday 10:30 to 6:30 (37.5 hours per week), occasional overtime on evenings, weekends, and on-call

Salary: $15.95 - $17.94 DOE Non-exempt
