Job Title:        Director/Sr. Director, Facilities Operations

General Functions:

The Director/Sr. Director of Facilities Operations is a strategic business partner in support of CITC’s mission and is responsible for facility operations and maintenance activities across the organization. This position develops long- and short-term business strategies, and oversees implementation for facility operations and maintenance activities across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight, management, and leadership to the Facilities Department.
  • Develop strategic facilities plans to meet organizational needs.
  • Develop service level arrangements with internal customers and external facility service providers.
  • Develop and implement business processes that assure cost efficient facility operations and minimize/eliminate unplanned infrastructure and building systems downtime.
  • Forecast, plan and manage annual operating and project budgets, and implement cost-savings measures.
  • Direct facilities operations, long-term maintenance planning, and fleet management, ensuring the investment in CITC’s facilities has a high level of care and stewardship.
  • Partner with various departments to ensure that operations and maintenance services and needs are met across the organization.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure effective use of space and oversee coordination of moves and space reorganizations.
  • Oversee furniture acquisition, tracking and placement, ensuring furniture aligns with organizational standards.
  • Oversee the efficient and secure management of warehouse facilities including maintaining an inventory of items stored in the warehouse.
  • Serve as project owner for high complexity department, cross-functional or multi-location projects and improvement initiatives. Set project direction including project scope, timeline and resources. Accountable for making decisions and project success. Manage change through effective planning, communication and coaching.
  • Provide oversight of project management for new construction and renovations by managing stakeholder needs, and align project plans with organization objectives; negotiate permitting with authorities, meeting budgets, and ensuring work conforms to specifications and codes.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement with multiple business units, technology, and support teams.
  • Support senior leadership by meeting operational objectives, anticipating growth opportunities and presenting resolutions for inherent problems
  • Provide effective operational leadership in the execution of short- and long-term strategic and operating plans. Identify opportunities for organizational improvements by evaluating processes, and developing budgets and long-range planning based on company growth and future needs.
  • Evaluate and direct safety and security protocols and work with Health Safety & Security Committee to implement and improve safety.
  • Prepare regular leadership level reports focused on strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Responsible for integration of systems, systems metrics and analysis.
  • Provide strategic direction to assist leadership with workforce related issues or concerns.
  • Prepare and present strategic information to senior leadership and the Board.
  • Serve as a strategic contributor and active member of the CITC Leadership Council (CLC).
  • Ensure Facilities team is Mission and Vision focused and models CITC’s values and supports CITC’s ThriveAbility.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of acceptable purchasing practices, including purchase requisition, account reconciliation, and budgeting.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, prepare and submit reports, and compose correspondence while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Adobe software.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Management, Construction or Project Management or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Five (5) years’ equivalent progressive experience, including in a management or supervisory role.
  • Four (4) years’ experience working in a facilities role with contract and vehicle maintenance.
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license and insurable under CITC’s automotive insurance, which requires the driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver’s license for at least three years. 
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications or ability to obtain within three (3) months from date of hire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native/American Indian community.
  • Continued employment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced/Master’s degree and/or professional certifications in the areas of building support systems, and Health and Safety programs.
  • Ten (10) years’ equivalent progressive experience, including in a management/supervisory role with increased leadership responsibility. Relevant experience may substitute for educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
