General Functions:

The Facilities Service Technician supports the Facilities Team and is responsible for responding to day-to-day maintenance needs of CITC's assets and facilities in the greater Anchorage area and Matanuska Valley. This position maintains building-related systems, grounds, and equipment while providing responsive customer service to staff, participants, and stakeholders. Working in partnership with our people, the Facilities Service Technician develops opportunities that fulfill our endless potential by ensuring safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities that support CITC's mission and programs. The role requires technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to maintaining high standards of facility operations and emergency response capabilities.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Facilities Service Technician I

  • Provide responsive and professional customer service to all CITC staff, participants, vendors, and key stakeholders in all facility interactions.
  • Complete facilities work tickets as assigned while maintaining accurate documentation and timely response to maintenance requests.
  • Assist in fleet maintenance program for the entire CITC fleet and notify Facilities Operations Supervisor when vehicles need service or repair.
  • Assist in setting up RCC conference rooms daily for scheduled meetings and events while ensuring rooms are properly prepared.
  • Assist Emergency Response Team as directed and perform routine inspections and checks of Life Safety and building systems.
  • Assist in daily external and internal mail delivery for CITC departments and affiliates as needed while maintaining confidentiality requirements.
  • Use hand tools and necessary equipment to complete tasks required for essential job functions safely and effectively.
  • Maintain confidentiality of CITC participants and staff following all applicable rules governing confidentiality, HIPAA, and CFR 25.

Facilities Service Technician II

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities of Facilities Service Technician I with a higher level of proficiency.
  • Assist department staff with day-to-day operations, clerical duties, and special projects while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Monitor dedicated facilities email addresses and respond to emails appropriately while prioritizing urgent maintenance needs.
  • Contribute to CITC safety by coordinating efforts with security and safety programs to maintain secure facility environments.

Facilities Service Technician III

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities of Facilities Service Technician I and II with a higher level of proficiency.
  • Respond to security issues and coordinate response to incidents while ensuring appropriate escalation to management when necessary.
  • Purchase and arrange delivery of supplies from vendors while managing procurement processes efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Create, assign, and approve facilities work tickets while identifying and guiding on-site work of other technicians as directed by management.

  • Ability to use hand tools and equipment safely while following proper safety procedures and wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the social, health, educational, training, and cultural needs of the Alaska Native and American Indian community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Continued employment is contingent upon completion of satisfactory state and federal fingerprint criminal background check.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license and insurable under CITC's automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver's license for at least three years.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications or ability to obtain within three months from date of hire.

Facilities Service Technician I

  • High School Diploma or equivalent qualifications and certifications.
  • Experience using basic hand tools and performing essential maintenance functions.

Facilities Service Technician II

  • Meets Facilities Service Technician I qualifications.
  • Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques.
  • One (1) year of experience working in facilities maintenance or related field.

Facilities Service Technician III

  • Meets Facilities Service Technician I and II qualifications.
  • Post-secondary education or certification in HVAC, industrial mechanical maintenance, or relevant field.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in facilities maintenance or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Business, Project Management, Facilities Management, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience working with Alaska Native and American Indian populations with knowledge of cultural values and belief systems.
  • Additional certifications in building maintenance, HVAC systems, or related technical fields.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently, by utilizing proper lifting techniques and working in a safe manner.
  • Regularly perform physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, and handling materials.
  • Occasionally perform sedentary activities that require sitting for long periods and repetitive use of hands, wrists and arms for handling, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • The ability to wear the appropriate PPE.
  • Possible exposure to hazardous equipment, tools, noise, and contaminants such as mold, dust, household cleaning solvents, paints and fertilizers.
  • Works indoors and outdoors, exposure to various weather conditions.
