This is a remote/ rotational position, in Prudhoe Bay, AK. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.

Job Purpose:

 

Completes routine maintenance, diagnosis and repair, including engine and transmission, on mainly Ford F-Series truck & chassis, some Econoline, and F-150/Expedition vehicles. Operates and inspects vehicles or equipment to diagnose defects and complete repairs. The position is located on the North Slope and requires a rotational work schedule. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however, transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. Room and meals are provided while in Prudhoe Bay.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

·       Required to work on fuel, electrical, hydraulic, drive train and other component systems, including, but not limited to, driveability, suspension, steering, heating / air conditioning, brake, exhaust / DPF, and multiplex systems.

·       Use and operate associated tooling and test equipment common to the trade.

·       Able to prepare paperwork and appropriate documentation, describe failure(s) and repair(s) performed, as associated with manufacturer warranty requirements.

·       Performs other duties as assigned.

  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

·       Knowledge of diesel/gas theory, hydraulics, electrical and pneumatic systems.

·       Knowledge of light duty equipment preventative maintenance.

·       Knowledge of and experience in lubrication procedures for all types of Light duty equipment.

·       Skilled in Ford OASIS system tools and symptom code use. Use of technical assistance tools, i.e., TSB/SSM, cost cap / prior approval, HVBOM, workshop manual & PCED methods.

·       Ability to maintain equipment maintenance records.

·       Ability to give and receive oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments.

·       Ability to use hand and power tools.

·       Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprint/drawings, job descriptions, maintenance/safety/technical manuals and safety/warning signs.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:


Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:

 

·       Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.

·       Standing for prolonged periods of time.

·       Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather

·       Ability to climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.

·       Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.

·       Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.

·       Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.

·       Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.

·       Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.

·       Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:

 

·       Three years (3) experience as a mechanic in a Ford light equipment dealership.

·       Ford mechanic certification.

·       High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

·       Valid driver’s license required and ability to be insured by Worley's auto insurer.

·       North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

·       Experience working with remote North Slope operations.

·       Experience with Ford warranty work.
