We are seeking a passionate and talented Baker/Pastry Chef to elevate our culinary offerings with exquisite baked goods and desserts. In this energetic role, you will craft visually stunning pastries, cakes, and confections that delight our guests and showcase your culinary artistry. Your expertise in food preparation, cake decorating, and food handling will be essential to delivering high-quality products consistently. This position pays $17.00-$20.00/hour depending on experience, and offers free food and housing. Housing includes individual canvas and wood wall tent w/ communal amenities on site of main lodge along the Upper Kenai River.

Duties

  • Prepare a variety of baked goods, including cakes, pastries, and confections, adhering to established recipes and quality standards
  • Decorate cakes and desserts with artistic flair using various cake decorating techniques
  • Package finished products carefully for presentation and delivery, maintaining freshness and appearance
  • Assist in food production processes, ensuring efficient workflow in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station, following strict food safety protocols
  • Collaborate with team members to develop new dessert ideas that excite our guests
  • Support catering events by preparing specialty pastries and desserts tailored to client specifications
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Interact with guests, guides, and other staff in a respectful manner.
  • Work independently and within a team structure in a flexible manner to accomplish a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: food preparation, packing, bussing, dishwashing, serving, and other guest services.
  • Participate in company practices and policies to conserve natural resources, reduce landfill-bound waste, reduce or eliminate the use of environmentally harmful substances and products and work to help improve AWA’s environmental impact

Requirements

  • Proven pastry experience with a strong portfolio of baked goods and decorated cakes
  • Food preparation, and food handling techniques
  • Experience in food production within a commercial kitchen or restaurant setting
  • Knowledge of baking fundamentals, knife skills, and culinary techniques
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and proper sanitation practices
  • Excellent customer service skills to understand guest preferences and deliver personalized desserts
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy kitchen environment
  • Prior kitchen or restaurant experience in the food industry preferred

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • CPR and First Aid
