Position Summary:
Are you looking for a position that combines a variety of fiscal and budgeting skills with the opportunity for operational involvement? UAA General Support Services (GSS) is recruiting for Fiscal Manager and this could be for you. GSS consists of the Copy & Print Center, Mailroom, Surplus, Property/Tracked Assets, and Recycling. This recruitment is open internally to current UA employees or those otherwise eligible to apply to internal postings.

In this role, you would be responsible for performing budget analysis, preparing management reports and other fiscal reports such as cost and trend analysis, and serving as an expert resource and source of fiscal guidance for the Director and others within the unit.The Fiscal Manager reports directly to the GSS Director and serves as the primary fiscal officer for the diverse unit overseeing multiple funding sources ranging from general funds to recharge revenue. In this role, you would be responsible for performing budget analysis, management reports, and other fiscal reporting such as cost and trend analysis, margin reporting and serving as an expert resource for fiscal guidance to the Director. The Fiscal Manager is responsible for the high level budget overview and also supports daily departmental invoicing, equipment purchases as well as other fiscal and operational functions. The GSS Fiscal Manager also serves as the UAA Property Coordinator, overseeing the processing and physical inventory of all campus tracked assets. This position supervises and is supported by the GSS Fiscal Technician and it is expected these two roles will work effectively together as a strong team.

Individuals with a strong knowledge base and professional experience in fiscal accounting as well as budgeting and forecasting are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate would possess strong analytical abilities combined with a creative streak. Balancing all required policies and procedures with the willingness to look at challenges from all angles and constantly seek appropriate improvements for the team and the unit is vital. Communication and customer service must be highly valued.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and three years progressively responsibleprofessional experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.

Knowledge of GAAP and accounting theory. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply principles, policies, and procedures, including recommending improvements. Extensive cash handling experience including oversight of register funds and safe security. Experience in reconciliation, balancing and auditing records and accounts. Includes financial analysis and research/query procedures. Advanced application of computer spreadsheet, word processing and database software, including spreadsheet and database development. Demonstrated ability to prepare and analyze reports and participate effectively in budget development.Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, high attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
