Position Summary:
The Strength and Conditioning coach is responsible for all aspects of developing and implementing successful year-round sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes in all intercollegiate athletic teams with a focus on enhancing performance, injury prevention, and injury recovery programs. This includes, but is not limited to: instruction of proper techniques, physical performance evaluating and testing, managing, scheduling, maintenance, and upkeep of the weight room facility, and adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, NCAA, and applicable conference.
Duties:
%The strength and Conditioning coach is responsible for all aspects of developing and implementing successful year around sport specific strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes in all intercollegiate athletic teams with focus in enhancing performance, injury prevention, and injury recovery programs. This includes, but is not limited to: instruction of proper techniques, physical performance evaluating and testing, managing, scheduling, maintenance, and upkeep of weight room facility, adhering to all rules regulations of the University, NCAA, and applicable conference. Further responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Plan a comprehensive strength and conditioning program designed to meet student athlete's needs. -Design strength and conditioning programs in consultation with coaching and athletic training staff for all student-athletes. -Coordinate with athletic training staff to ensure proper injury rehabilitation protocols. Work with athletic training staff on injury prevention programs for all 10 intercollegiate sports. -Communicate with coaches to address team needs and to schedule training sessions. -Supervision and evaluation of possible graduate assistant, intern, or volunteer strength and conditioning coaches. -Responsible for oversight and maintenance of the student-athlete weight room. -Responsible for oversight of budget, staff, and administrative processes related to the strength and conditioning program. -Continued professional development to provide student-athletes the best opportunity to succeed. -Monitor individual and team progress -Involvement in team practices and travel as requested -Meet with prospective student-athletes during recruiting visits to provide insight into the strength and conditioning program. -Assist with sport camps and clinics as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Advanced knowledge of strength and conditioning techniques, energy systems, and expenditure for various sports, sports nutrition, anatomy and physiology, and periodization.
• Advanced knowledge of therapeutic modalities, and physical rehabilitation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• An ability to counsel and motivate athletes.
Preferred Experience & Education:
Master's degree preferred.
Required Experience & Education:
Bachelor's degree in athletic training or related field and four years relevant experience, or an
equivalent combination of training and experience. Professional licensure may be required that is commensurate with the appropriate level. National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification is required.
Certification as certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and collegiate strength and conditioning experience.
Salary Information:
This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, Alaska and is subject to receive possible relocation expenses. This is a full-time, 11-month, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://alaska.edu/jobs/benefits.php. New hires will be placed on the https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/compensation/files/fy24_staff_salary_grid.pdf, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
