Development Director


Alzheimer’s Resource of Alaska (ARA) is the state’s leading source of information, support and services for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) and Alaskans with disabilities of any age.  Our Mission: Support Alaskans affected by Alzheimer’s disease, related dementias and other disabilities to ensure quality of life.

ARA is seeking an exceptional individual to develop and advance philanthropy in a dynamic and diverse nonprofit that supports frail elders, individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, related dementias, and individuals with other disabilities no matter their age.

The Development Director serves as a key leadership team member that works closely with the executive director, board members, and staff to support our mission.

The Development Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of fundraising activities including, the major gifts program, annual giving, planned giving, special events and workplace giving.  In addition, this position assists in the formation and implementation of ARA’s external communications and marketing. The Development Director works closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in all development, fund raising and communications endeavors.  

Qualifications:

  • Must embrace the mission of Alzheimer’s Resource of Alaska.
  • Post-secondary education: A Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing or other relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Outgoing and positive demeanor, with appropriate concern for individuals and community, demonstrating presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Have knowledge and experience in fund raising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.
  • Possess a proven ability to work with and motivate staff, volunteers and project teams.
  • Have the desire to build strong external relationships.
  • Be goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
