Bean's Cafe, Inc., in service since 1979, exists to fight hunger for all ages, one meal at a time while providing a pathway to self-sufficiency with dignity and respect. 

The Children's Lunchbox, a program of Bean's Cafe has been in operation since 2006 and is focused on feeding hungry and food-insecure children and families. We do this through various methods, including our pantry pack, weekend food, and summer food programs.

Job Summary: 

The Finance Manager is responsible for the budget planning and supports the executive management team by offering insights and financial advice that will allow them to make the best business decisions for the company. The Finance Manager oversees the distribution of the financial resources for Bean’s Cafe. The Finance Manager provides overall management to the finance team member/s for conducting routine employee payroll. The Finance Managers also analyze everyday financial activities, review financial reports, monitor accounts, and prepares financial forecasts. The Finance Manager role also investigates ways to improve profitability and analyzes current finances for optimal cost efficiencies. 

Supports Vision: The Finance Manager ensures that the financial structure meets mission needs, goals and inspirations while ensuring a sustainable financial function and organizational infrastructure are in place to support and contribute to Bean’s organizational success.   


  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the Bean’s Cafe, Inc. mission, philosophy, history and tradition(s) and the underlying values upon which Bean’s Cafe, Inc. is founded upon to the staff, clients and the community served. 

  • Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company (payroll, invoicing, and other transactions). 

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting. 

  • Participate in strategic data analysis, research, and modeling for senior company leadership. 

  • Support project analysis, validation of plans, and ad-hoc requests. 

  • Oversees and manages insurance compliance and coverages. 

  • Manage the company's financial accounting, monitoring, and reporting systems. 

  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, regulatory requirements and legal compliance benchmarks. 

  • Management for conducting routine unemployment insurance payments to the State/s and answering routine unemployment insurance claims/communications for formal employees. 

  • Provides support with benefits administrations and renewals; provides overall financial guidance. 

  • Supports management in making large and small financial decisions; generally serving as a point of reference for all growth plans and projects within Bean’s Cafe, Inc. 

  • Support all financial activities such as accounting, general ledger and operations functions, ensuring that systems are in place to guarantee timeliness and accuracy. 

  • Participate in all internal planning for any proposed program expansion/restructuring. 

  • Generate weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports/budgets, as needed or as requested. 

  • Build relationships with banks, donors, vendors, outside consultants and others as needed to keep close to Bean's Cafe, Inc. major expenditures and sources of revenue. 

  • Utilize technology to optimize all reporting and analytical functions. 

  • Build a top-tier internal finance team by actively recruiting, training and developing talented accountants, analysts, consultants, auditors, tax planners and payroll staff, as needed. 

  • Other duties as assigned by management. 

Required Skills / Abilities: 

  • Ability to understand the mission of Beans Cafe, Inc. and support it.  

  • Must have demonstrated computer skills and software skills (Microsoft suite, QuickBooks, human capital software/s, etc.). 

  • Able to make good decisions consistently based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment.

  • Excellent managerial and financial skills and the ability to take leadership over any organizational department. 

  • Understanding of key federal, municipal, and state regulatory requirements as it pertains to finance.

  • Evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, knowledge, experience, and judgment.

Education / Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in either Accounting, Finance, Management. CPA is a plus. 

  • At least 8 years' senior financial leadership experience. 

  • Substantial experience working in the nonprofit sector; and interacting with volunteers and diverse boards. Alternatively, extensive senior strategic financial leadership experience in the management of organizations of comparable size and mission. 

  • Ability to pass a background check.

Physical Requirements:  

  • Must be able to climb stairs. 

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from the ground up. 

  • Must be able to work with background distractions. 

  • Must have normal range of hearing and vision with or without correction. 

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time without needing assistance; and 

  • Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, and stop to access information and materials.
