Summary:
The Senior Safety Technician may be assigned primary duties to either the medical center safety, the environment, health and safety construction, or the corporate risk management program. The safety technician will be supervised by the manager of the respective program. The medical center safety technician has major responsibilities for pest management, hazardous materials and waste and supporting the hospital safety program. The construction safety tech supports the environment, health and safety construction manager. The campus safety technician’s focus is on general industry standards and ANTHC campus safety.
Responsibilities:
The following representative duties are divided by the program under which the senior safety technician will be assigned. The senior safety technician may be required to provide duties under the program to which they are not initially assigned:
Campus Safety Technician:
- Ensure a safe working environment for employees, patients and visitors by conducting building and environment inspections to identify, analyze and mitigate hazards that can result in harm to people, property and the environment.
- Assure compliance with Federal and State construction and general industry health and safety regulations.
- Work with the Risk and Safety Manager to research and develop hazard controls, implement corrective action and follow-up.
- Work with departments to apply methods of Safety Science to develop hazard controls and deploy a comprehensive organization- wide safety program for business activities to assure a safe, secure and healthy workplace for ANTHC staff and visitors.
Technical assistance:
- Advise unit supervisors and employees of appropriate safety measures to control or eliminate hazardous operating processes or environmental conditions.
- Review policies and guidelines that are relevant to current employees and/or contractors.
- Assist in the preparation of presentations and program material for meetings and to instruct and educate patients, medical staff, administration, board members, professional and non- clinical staff on areas of Risk Management and Safety.
Incident Investigation:
- Work with electronic incident reporting system to review, input and analyze incidents. Complete incident investigations; evaluate incident reports to determine accuracy and completeness.
- Assists the Occupational Safety and Loss Consultant to ensure the timely processing of workers’ compensation claims; assists with compliance of state workers’ compensation laws and regulations.
- Manage safety plans/programs: Independently develops and manages Emergency Action Plans, Floor Monitor training, and Ergonomic and Ice Gripper programs.
- Prepare plans for emergencies and disasters at business locations. Perform ergonomic assessments of workplace, physical setting and/or workstations, and identifies improvement opportunities.
- Develop, implement and coordinate the ergonomics program to include assessments, trainings, equipment and other components of the program.
- Perform other duties as assigned as deemed necessary by the Corporate Risk Manager.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
An Associate’s Degree in safety, environmental health or related field. Progressively responsible professional work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Non-supervisory - Two (2) years of safety program experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
A Bachelor’s Degree in safety, environmental health or related field is preferred

Depending on education, applicable certifications, and work experience, the annual salary range is: $67,000 - $83,000
