This is a remote/ rotational position, in Prudhoe Bay, AK. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.

Job Purpose:

 

The Refrigeration / HVAC / Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general repairs and preventative maintenance activities to utility systems, buildings, and associated equipment. This position assists with the development and improvement of the facility maintenance methods and procedures.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

·       To install, troubleshoot and repair various types of Refrigeration units and systems.

·       Perform general repairs and preventative maintenance activities on utility systems, buildings, and equipment as required.

·       Monitor and repair Refrigeration/ HVAC systems, boilers, controls, plumbing, exhaust fan, Kitchen equipment, and other facility equipment.

·       Inspect and repair electrical and mechanical problems as required.

·       Maintain accurate records of all inspection and maintenance activities.

·       Prepare and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.

·       Make recommendations to modify or replace equipment.

·       Work with other trades to complete projects as needed.

·       Organize and direct the work of installation contractors as required.

·       Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and the general work area.

·       Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.

·       Support Worley zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

  • Must be a self-starter; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to complete a task hazard awareness assessment and administer mitigation to identified hazards.
  • Ability to work as part of a team; communicate effectively with fellow workers and alternate.
  • Ability to demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to demonstrate support for the company’s environmental management system.
  • Sound knowledge of operations and safety policies and procedures.

 

 

Physical Demand/Work Environment:

 

Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:

 

·       Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.

·       Standing for prolonged periods of time.

·       Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather

·       Ability to climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.

·       Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.

·       Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.

·       Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.

·       Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.

·       Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.

·       Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:

·       One to two (1-2) years working experience in the installation, troubleshooting and repair of Gas Fired Heaters and mechanical HVAC systems.

·       Must possess a current National or State Refrigeration License.

·       High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

·       Valid driver's license and the ability to be covered by Worley auto insurer.

·       North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

·       Three (3) years’ experience working in remote North Slope environment.

·       Five (5) years’ experience with the refrigeration repair, troubleshooting and repair of Gas Fired boilers and mechanical HVAC Systems.
