GVEA is an electric cooperative that maintains 3,292 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 40 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, which extends from Homer to Fairbanks. Powering the Interior of Alaska, GVEA contributes to the economic, environmental, and social viability of our communities.
As the Healy Operations Supervisor at Golden Valley Electric Association, you will assist the Operations Manager with the day-to-day operations activities relating to operations personnel, performance, motivational, safety, environmental, and training.
In this role, you will maintain the EAM maintenance management system, including reviewing work requests and issuing and monitoring the progress of preventive and corrective work orders. You will also assist in conducting near miss and accident investigations, communicating findings to work groups, and supporting safe and efficient plant operations.
To be considered for the Healy Operations Supervisor role, candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, although relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement.
Applicants should also have a minimum of five years of operations experience in an industrial coal-fired plant or related experience, along with demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills. Experience with electric and mechanical utility systems, labor contract administration, and contractor supervision is preferred.
Candidates should also demonstrate strong organizational and supervisory abilities, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, evaluate subordinates' work, and prepare comprehensive reports.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Minimum of five years of operations experience in an industrial coal-fired plant or related experience.
Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills.
Electric and mechanical utility experience preferred.
Demonstrated experience with labor contract administration.
Demonstrated contractor supervision experience.
Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within thirty days of hire.
