ANSEP Special Events & Marketing Coordinator

University of Alaska

ANSEP Special Events & Marketing Coordinator

University of Alaska Anchorage

ANSEP is seeking to hire a Special Events & Marketing Coordinator to help lead our high-profile events and visual storytelling. You will be the creative force ensuring our brand looks professional and our student success stories reach a statewide audience.

At ANSEP, we are dedicated to transforming education and career pathways for all students, with a special focus on supporting Indigenous Alaska students. Our mission is to increase representation of Indigenous people in STEM and other high-demand fields through a model that begins in middle school and continues through graduate school and into the workforce. Working at ANSEP means joining a team committed to excellence and opportunity - where we empower students to achieve their full potential and create lasting change for Alaska and beyond.

The ANSEP Special Events & Marketing Coordinator supports ANSEP's mission by providing professional-level support in event planning, video production, digital content development, and stakeholder communications. Working under the direction of the Social Media & Marketing Assistant Director, the Coordinator independently manages logistics for VIP and partner events, the annual ANSEP Celebration conference, and site-based internship programming, while also contributing to ANSEP's visual storytelling and brand presence. Through effective coordination, content development, and public engagement, this position strengthens relationships with students, families, funders, and corporate partners and advances ANSEP's statewide impact.

This multifaceted role is designed to focus on two primary pillars: high-level event coordination and multimedia storytelling. Essentially, you are the person who helps to ensure ANSEP's brand looks professional both online and in person.

Your daily tasks include but are not limited to:

Multimedia Execution: Implementing the marketing strategy by capturing and editing the visual content the Director requests. You are the primary person behind the camera and at the editing desk.

Event Logistics Lead: Acting as the point person for venue and vendor communications (catering, AV, rentals). You handle the "nitty-gritty" details of event manuals and run-of-show documents so the leadership team can focus on the guests.

Administrative Backbone: Managing the "paper trail" for the marketing department. This includes processing invoices, tracking expenses against the budget, and securing the necessary university approvals (like alcohol permits or travel waivers).

Brand Stewardship: Monitoring social media and the website to ensure everything stays updated and aligned with ANSEP's established branding standards.

Student & Volunteer Guidance: Providing day-to-day direction to student employees or temporary staff to ensure outreach materials are distributed and events are properly staffed.

To be successful, an applicant must be a highly adaptable professional who can bridge the gap between creative storytelling and complex logistics. You should possess a sophisticated blend of technical multimedia skills-specifically videography and photo editing-alongside the disciplined project management required to execute large-scale events. Thriving here requires the agility to transition seamlessly from capturing high-impact visual content to managing a detailed event spreadsheet. You should be an expert communicator who feels equally confident directing student volunteers, negotiating with high-level corporate partners, and navigating the specific administrative frameworks of a university setting, such as procurement and travel policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Some college-level coursework plus one year of marketing experience and least three years of progressively responsible office or administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education or training.

Knowledge of industry standards for video, web, and graphic production.
Proficiency in desktop publishing and database software.

Expertise in social media marketing and professional writing.

Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to lead student employees, and "operational initiative" to solve problems independently.

Experience working with rural and/or Indigenous Alaska populations preferred.
