The Term Instructor of Counseling is a full-time, term-funded, nine-month, bipartite (teaching and service) faculty position within the University of Alaska Fairbanks, School of Education, Counseling Department. This role supports the M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or School Counseling, as well as the Graduate Licensure in School Counseling. All courses are delivered digitally, either synchronously via Zoom, asynchronously, or in a hybrid format. The faculty member will teach four courses per semester, and also recruit, advise, mentor, and support a diverse student population.

The successful candidate will be responsible for high-quality instruction; maintaining regularly scheduled office hours; curriculum development and modification aligned with CACREP standards; and serving as a core faculty member responsible for all duties and functions associated with maintaining CACREP accreditation. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the position includes a service component that involves participation in departmental, school, and university committees; community and public service activities; and support for program accreditation processes.

To thrive in this role, the successful candidate will be a student-centered counselor educator who is team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills. They will demonstrate commitment to teaching master's-level counseling courses at the university level. They will bring creativity and experience in educating counselors-in-training through digitally delivered coursework. They will understand and value multicultural and rural practice, particularly in ways aligned with CACREP accreditation standards. The ideal applicant will be able to work independently and collaboratively, make effective decisions under pressure, build and maintain strong relationships, and contribute positively to a diverse and collegial academic team. A commitment to multicultural values, the ability to advocate for the Counseling Profession and the university, and familiarity with Alaska Native or Indigenous communities are highly valued.

Minimum Qualifications:

Earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision with an emphasis in clinical mental health and/or school counseling by August 10, 2026. Experience as a clinical mental health provider and/or school counselor. Record of university teaching experience. Counseling service delivery experience with diverse populations.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha campus in Fairbanks, and remote work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, term faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php. Faculty salaries are based on a variety of factors, including education and experience.
