Position Summary:
The UA Museum of the North seeks outgoing customer service and sales oriented people for the winter season, September through May, seven days a week, 10 AM to 6 PM. Competitive salary and a fun and fast-paced work environment.

Provide excellent customer service for our visitors. Take an active role in the selling, displaying, storage, tracking and marketing of Museum store merchandise. Sell museum admission tickets, movie tickets and optional tours. Answer questions visitors may have about the museum and Alaska. Verify and monitor daily sales and admission deposits. Organize and maintain Visitor Services files. Impose and monitor Museum security procedures. Assist with a variety of special events. Assist with tour companies and other visiting groups. Assist Visitor Services with a variety of duties as assigned.Essential

The Visitor Services department is looking for a few great people to join this fast paced, customer service focused team. Imagine chatting with visitors from all over the world in one of the most beautiful settings in Fairbanks! This customer service position focuses on making guests feel welcome and helping them enjoy their visit to the museum. We are looking for friendly energetic individuals that are committed to providing excellent assistance to visitors. Cash handling and prior tourism experience preferred. A background in retail sales is helpful but not necessary.

Must be willing to work between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., with shifts available every day of the week. May be asked to work a varied schedule. May be required to work additional hours as special events require. Salary is competitive and dependent upon experience.

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and point of sale systems.
* Sales and customer service experience.
* Ability to work cooperatively with staff members.
* Ability to speak in front of groups of people.
* Ability to maintain a positive, customer service attitude.
* Ability to lift 40 pounds.


Prior customer service.


Prior experience working in the visitor industry in Alaska is strongly preferred.

Position Information:

This is a temporary position without benefits. Rate of pay depends on experience, minimum $15.25/hour. This is a pool position, and applications will be reviewed on an as needed basis.
