Electrical Technician

Position Summary:

The position will be responsible for installing, commissioning, maintaining, troubleshooting medium voltage, and 480V equipment, including replacement of relays and other components on existing equipment.  Rotational schedule and travel is required.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Proficient use of SEL, Siemens, Woodward, Basler, Rockwell
  • Proficient use of SEL AcSELerator QuickSet, RTAC, and Architect Basler BestComs, AVO AVTS, ETAP design and calculation.
  • Responsible for safe operation of power generation, governor controls, protective relay settings and design.
  • Responsible for panel design, layout, and fabrication.
  • Adheres to all Alyeska pipeline and Chugach Alaska Services policies and regulations, abides by the Code of Conduct, able to be decisive during response and demonstrate professional behavior with the highest ethical, morale, and legal principles.
  • Wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment and remind those not following guidelines.

Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience, Training & Professional Certificates/Associations):

Mandatory

  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • APSC Technician Level 6 equivalent
  • Provide proof of a current State of Alaska Electrician Certificate of Fitness
  • 10 years medium voltage equipment maintenance work experience
  • Ability to travel up to 50% and work weekends or varied shifts as required
  • A current TWIC card or obtain prior to start date
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment DOT background check, medical and drug screening, and FIT test

Preferred

  • 10 years’ experience installing, commissioning, maintaining, troubleshooting medium voltage and 480V equipment.
  • Previous Taps experience.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and perform successfully in a team environment.
  • Ability to coordinate and interact successfully with Engineering, System Integrity, Maintenance, and supporting third party contractors.
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and orally.
  • Strong attention to detail.
