General Functions

The Senior Compliance Accountant is responsible for managing the accounting of assigned non-profit organizations. The Senior Compliance Accountant is also responsible for grant reporting, financial analysis, and special projects as needed by the organization and department. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and review data and reports to prevent financial audit findings.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports and related financial forms required by grant agreements. Prepare and post journal entries as needed for reports. 
  • Ensure grant-related regulations and limitations, such as administrative and indirect guidelines and caps, are followed.
  • Ensure all grant expenses are reflected in grant reporting.
  • Responsible for grant re-classes.
  • Responsible for grant proposal budgets and budget narratives.
  • Responsible for grant reporting and grant close-out procedures.
  • Prepare grant work papers for annual audits.
  • Review budgets for compliance. 
  • Participate in meetings on new grant awards.
  • Participate in site-visits from granting agencies and provide financial information as requested.
  • Develops and maintains internal and external relationships.
  • Perform other related job duties as needed and assigned.

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.   Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Two years accounting experience.
  • Two years experience with conducting or preparing for internal/external audits.
  • Two years experience with financial statement preparation.
  • Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory report from a state and federal background check. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Public Accounting experience
  • Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Two years of experience with federal or state grant accounting
  • Supervisory experience
