UAF's Military & Veteran Student Services provides support to service members, veterans, and their families by equipping students with the tools necessary for success. This position is expected to have broad knowledge of our programs and processes while engaging in meaningful customer interactions. Furthermore, the position is responsible for checking in and assisting students, troubleshooting student issues, and imaging documents. We are looking for motivated, team-oriented individuals with outstanding customer service and organization skills, and the ability to learn, understand, and relay complex policy and process to prospective and current UAF students. The per hour wage for this position is $16.00 per hour and the position is located at the Fort Wainwright Education Center; UAF Office.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication in addition to clear and concise customer service skills.
• Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse audiences.
• Ability to handle escalated issues calmly and appropriately and to take initiative to resolve problems and offer solutions.
• Ability to demonstrate proficiency with software applications used in the department.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of the various VA educational benefits, Military Tuition Assistance, and MyCAA programs available to students. Preferred Experience & Education:
• Computer skills and data experience
• Knowledge of the different educational benefit options available to students. Required Experience & Education:
Applicant must be enrolled as a UAF student taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.
Salary Information:
This is a student assistant position starting at $16.00 an hour.
