We welcome your interest in becoming part of a devoted team.

MAPTS is recruiting for a mine training instructor who will deliver in-person, hands-on mine task training in a camp setting as well as MSHA training in a classroom or online setting. The majority of time in this position will be providing MSHA certified instruction and hands-on training at MAPTS mine training facility. As a camp mining instructor, your rotational schedule will be approximately 16 days on, 12 days off. During the days on, you will live at MAPTS mine training camp, with lodging, meals, and transportation provided. You will work within a team of 3-4 instructors to provide intensive, short-term training to entry-level and incumbent employees. Students will be taught inspection, maintenance and, operation of mobile equipment as well as underground and surface mining tools.

When not instructing, you will be updating and improving your instructional presentation, ensuring the camp facility and its equipment is in good working order, coordinate with the instructional team to anticipate camp and program needs, and promote the MAPTS program to visitors and guests.

MAPTS Mine Training Camp facility is located 30 miles outside Delta Junction. The location is remote and mirrors the experience of working at a production or exploration project in Alaska. However, the camp’s location on the road system allows for transportation in and out and easy access to resources outside the camp. Instructional staff and students reside at the training facility for the duration of each training session. MAPTS instructors use this time to train students in the hard skills required for surface and underground mining, and more importantly, to mentor students to becoming valued and trusted workers in an industry that can support them and their families for the long term.

This position will occasionally provide MSHA compliance instruction face-to-face and online for classes scheduled separately from the mine training camp program. This recruitment will recognize a preference for an instructor who can provide other related trainings such as OSHA 10 and 30, MSHA Train the Trainer, blasting safety, mine rescue, etc.

The position will work with the MAPTS team to run the camp safely, efficiently, with the goal of positive outcomes for students. As an instructor, you will work with students from varying work and educational backgrounds as well as underserved populations.
