Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructor

The aviation maintenance instructor is responsible for teaching, planning, organizing, and operating within an FAA approved part 147 maintenance school, designed to prepare students for the AMT career and related aerospace and technical fields. This position reports to the Director of Programs.

Salary: $65K - $75K/year DOE                    Schedule: M-F, 8am – 5pm

NOTE: The AMT instructor will be on furlough while classes are not in session.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily classroom and aircraft activities of up to 15 students while maintaining a safe working environment
  • Provide instruction in the skills and knowledge required to become certified FAA Airframe and Powerplant technicians
  • Prepare daily lesson plans and conduct classroom and laboratory instruction with the use of visual aids and training equipment
  • Monitor and track daily student attendance and maintain student files (attendance, grades, etc.)
  • Transport students between the campus and classroom
  • Maintain current maintenance equipment and aircraft as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a certified Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic with at least 3 years of experience working in the trade
  • Must have teaching/instructing experience
  • Valid Alaska Driver License with clean driving record and ability to pass a background check
  • Computer literacy and the ability to enter data and complete reporting
  • Able to work and communicate with other members of the team
  • Must be willing to comply with all company policies and procedures, especially with regard to safety, including COVID vaccination requirement for all Yuut employees
  • Able to work independently and with confidentiality
  • Must possess strong communication skills
  • Must have a HS Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a cross-cultural setting
  • Yup’ik speaker preferred
