MAPTS Rural Heavy Equipment Operator – Year-Round Employment Pathway
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
This year-round opportunity is intended to support Calista Shareholders who are interested in pursuing training and developing the skills necessary to work as Heavy Equipment Operators through the MAPTS Rural Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program. Applicants may apply to this evergreen opportunity while pursuing or preparing to participate in the MAPTS training program.
TRAINING & EMPLOYMENT PATHWAY:
This posting is designed to establish a potential pathway to future employment following successful completion of the MAPTS Rural Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program.
Upon successful completion of training and satisfaction of applicable employment requirements, qualified participants may be considered for Heavy Equipment Operator employment opportunities based on business needs, project availability, timing, qualifications, and individual readiness. POTENTIAL WORK RESPONSIBILITIES:
Heavy Equipment Operators support civil construction projects by safely and efficiently operating and maintaining heavy construction equipment. Work may include equipment operation, site preparation, grading, excavation, material handling, equipment inspections, basic preventative maintenance, and other construction activities as assigned.
Heavy Equipment Operators may work at remote project locations throughout Alaska and should be prepared to work outdoors in changing weather conditions, extended shifts, and varying project environments. Work requires a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, productivity, and professionalism.
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT:
Participants are expected to actively engage in the MAPTS Rural Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program and take advantage of opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills, and certifications necessary for future employment.
Successful candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn, accept direction, develop technical skills, and pursue continued training and professional development.
