UAF College of Natural Science and Mathematics Academic and Research Business Office (CARBO) is seeking an Accounting Specialist to help support the financial backbone of our academic programs. This entry-level position will produce accurate reports, reconcile accounts, and assist faculty and staff with fiscal questions related to teaching and research activities. If you enjoy working with numbers, solving problems, and keeping financial processes running smoothly, the College of Natural Science & Mathematics (CNSM) at UAF has an exciting opportunity for you! As the CARBO Accounting Specialist, you'll work with financial data, run queries, prepare journal vouchers, track budgets, and provide information that supports CNSM's day-to-day operations. You'll also assist with financial activities related to faculty research and provide backup purchasing support, giving you exposure to a variety of fiscal and administrative functions across the college.

To excel in this position, you should enjoy problem-solving and working with detailed financial information. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, comfortable with spreadsheets, and willing to learn automated accounting tools and processes. You'll thrive if you enjoy investigating discrepancies, creating clear and accurate reports, and learning how complex fiscal systems work. Strong communication and customer service skills are key, as faculty, staff, and students will rely on you for responsive and helpful support. The pace can be fast-especially around month-end and fiscal year-end-so the ability to stay focused, maintain accuracy, and manage competing deadlines will help you succeed. This is an entry-level position intended for someone looking to develop professional experience and knowledge in early accounting principles. Minimum Qualifications:
One year of college coursework in Accounting or related fields and two years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Position Details:

This position is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, AK. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/compensation/salary.php, Grade 77, based on education and experience as appropriate for an entry level position.
