We are searching for an experienced IT Intern at our Palmer HQ facility. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

SUMMARY OF POSITION'S ROLE

At MTA, each day presents new and engaging opportunities for learning and growth within the IT Department.  As an IT Intern, you will play a vital role providing operational support for a wide range of technology initiatives that span across MTA’s complex infrastructure, computer systems and applications. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in various areas of IT including operational support, enterprise systems, security, software development and project management. Interns will collaborate closely with staff in the IT department to assist with corporate projects, maintain and update records, and support routine maintenance tasks. The ability to be discreet with proprietary information while maintaining enterprise systems and records in a highly confidential manner is a fundamental requirement of the position. Success in this role requires strong initiative, attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills, making it an excellent entry point to those interested in building a career in IT.

SPECIFIC TASK DESCRIPTION

  1. Maintain and update the IT Knowledge base with current information about our infrastructure, network and applications.
  2. Assist with resolving day-to-day technical issues for employees with hardware and software issues.
  3. Distributing and installing hardware such as laptops, monitors, and peripherals for employees.
  4. Tracking and updating IT asset inventories, including devices and software licenses.
  5. Participate in IT initiatives such as system upgrades or migrations, rolling out new platforms or technologies.
  6. Perform data clean-up projects on a variety of applications that are identified by project teams.
  7. Provide support on creating training material for the MTA in-house training program.
  1. Support generation and maintenance of training presentations, procedure documents and metrics reporting.
  2. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

Enrollment in an accredited university for the upcoming semester, at least part time (6 credits), is required. Experience in a previous internship, ideally in the telecommunications field would be considered an asset.  Those seeking a degree in Computer Information Office Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent major, will be given first preference. GPA of 3.0 or greater preferred. Must have ability to speak, read and comprehend the English language. 

EXPERIENCE:

To be successful in this environment, several skills are essential. These skills include: dependable work habits, the ability to work independently without continuous direct supervision, a technical understanding of and comfort in the operation of computer applications and the willingness to provide quality customer service. Able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and data protection. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite of applications along with Windows operating systems is required. Experience with Visio and SharePoint preferred. Prior office experience is preferred but not required. Strong organizational, writing, interpersonal, and communication skills preferred. Accuracy and attention to detail is required.
