We are searching for an experienced Information Security Intern at our Palmer HQ facility. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

SUMMARY OF POSITION'S ROLE

At MTA, every day brings new and exciting challenges. You can expect an interesting environment where you are part of a team providing cybersecurity support for a complex network of computer systems and applications. The primary purpose of this position is to improve MTA’s information security program by driving clear documentation, clean data, organized advisory intake, and steady operational support. Interns will work in close collaboration with other staff in the IT department and IT Staff assisting with duties related to corporate, enterprise systems, software development and operational projects. The ability to be discreet with proprietary information while maintaining enterprise systems and records in a highly confidential manner is a fundamental requirement of the position. Showing initiative, being detail oriented and solving problems using analytical thinking are key components of a successful Information Security Intern.

SPECIFIC TASK DESCRIPTION

  1. Assist with monitoring, triaging, and responding to security alerts, advisories, and notifications.
  2. Assist with maintaining Corporate Resource document repositories such as Standard Operating Guides (SOGs), Business Rules, Process Documents, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  3. Assist with supporting the cybersecurity awareness and training program, including development and maintenance of training materials and phishing simulations.
  4. Assist with development and maintenance of hardware/software/account inventories.
  5. Assist with patch and vulnerability monitoring, reporting, and remediation.
  6. Assist with supply chain risk management by documenting and tracking vendors and other suppliers.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

Enrollment in an accredited university for the upcoming semester, at least part-teim (minimum of 6 credits, is required. Junior standing is required.  Experience in a previous internship, ideally in the telecommunications field, would be considered an asset.  Those seeking a degree in Computer Information Office Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Networking, Engineering, or equivalent major, will be given first preference. GPA of 3.0 or greater preferred. Must have ability to speak, read and comprehend the English language. 

EXPERIENCE:

To be successful in this environment, several skills are essential. These skills include dependable work habits, the ability to work independently without continuous direct supervision, a technical understanding of and comfort in the operation of computer applications and the willingness to provide quality customer service. Able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and data protection. Proficiency in Office 365, MS Office applications along with Windows operating systems is required. Experience with Visio and SharePoint preferred. Prior office experience is preferred but not required. Strong organizational, writing, interpersonal, and communication skills preferred. Accuracy and attention to detail is required.
