Position Summary:
WWAMI School of Medical Education is seeking applications for a Term Assistant Professor of Medical Education. This is a term faculty position at 51% requires ability to commit 21 weeks and be available during class times.
Duties:
You will serve as a Foundations clinical guide and work closely with UWSOM and UAA faculty at the WWAMI site in developing, adapting and deploying the Foundations Phase curriculum in Anchorage. This will involve working closely with curriculum leaders in the UW School of Medicine and the UAA WWAMI program. Teach in most of the Foundations blocks in the 15-month Foundations Phase curriculum. This will include preparing for classes, facilitating student learning during classes, reviewing and discussing assignments, following up on a regular basis with students or as needed office hours, remediation, serving as resource for medical students, submitting evaluations in a timely fashion, participating in faculty meetings and committee work of the WWAMI curriculum, inter-professional education and service-learning activities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Clinical training and 3-5 years of experience in a primary care field or a medical field which provides care across multiple organ systems or the breadth of medicine (eg hospitalist, emergency medicine, rheumatology, etc.) is preferred. Prior experience and involvement with the WWAMI program.

- Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience
- Education, training and experience in a primary care field or a field which covers the breadth of medicine (Rheumatology, Hospitalist Med, Nephrology, etc.)
Required Experience & Education:
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree. Board certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties or equivalent internationally recognized entity. Preferred active clinical practice locally.
Salary Information:
Term Assistant Professor rank, Part-Time, Exempt, 9 months per year, full employee benefits package (https://www.alaska.edu/jobs/benefits/). This position is a term-funded position and is reviewed annually for contract renewal at the University's discretion. Salary will be based upon level of academic preparation and experience.

WWAMI is a collaborative medical school among universities in five northwestern states, Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho and the University of Washington School of Medicine. The curriculum at each site has been standardized with the University of Washington School of Medicine curriculum which integrates the basic and clinical sciences, and includes training in clinical care at an early time in medical education. Alaska WWAMI provides Alaskans access to a high quality regional medical school.
Alaska WWAMI is expanding to 25 students per year and we are looking for a 51% Term Clinical Guide to teach and facilitate in the classroom. The first 15 months of the WWAMI School of Medicine curriculum is taught in person at the University of Alaska Anchorage in a "team based" active learning format with PhD and MD (or equivalent) faculty.
