Barista/Cashier - Horizon's Cafe


Under the supervision of the Catering Manager, the employee will assist customers with their food and beverage requests at the Northern Cup and Horizon’s Café. This position includes both cashier and barista responsibilities. Employee operates cash register and performs daily stocking and cleaning tasks. Employee assists where necessary, providing exceptional customer service.

*This position is M-F (40 Hrs/Week)


  • High school diploma or GED
  • Anchorage Food Worker Card
  • Able to proficiently speak, read, understand and write English


  • Barista experience
  • At least one years’ previous food service and cashiering experience


  • Prepare, portion, and maintain food and drinks for sale according to the production guidelines and customer needs
  • Operate cash register and correctly complete cash reconciliation forms
  • Maintain and perform general cleaning tasks using standard cleaning products. Abide by all state and federal regulations pertaining to health standards and sanitation
  • Communicate effectively with team members and customers
  • Provide quality customer service
  • Perform all side work to include replenishing condiments and restocking shelves and cooler supplies
  • Clean and sanitize dishes and utensils
  • Clean and restock salad bar during lunch service
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner
  • Willingness to perform other duties as required
  • Willingness to work at various locations as required


  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate beverage equipment, coffee maker, cash register, and kitchen utensils
  • Ability to accurately and consistently manage cash register drawer
  • Ability to recite and promote the variety of menu items
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member and work with minimum supervision
  • Dependable, punctual, flexible, and able to set priorities
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
