 Job Title:         Accounting Technician I/II (General Ledger)

Department:    Finance (Accounting)

Reports to:      Assistant Controller                         

Supervises:      None

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Job Type:        Regular, Full-Time

Pay Grade:     I (N5) II (N6)   

 General Functions

The Accounting Technician (General Ledger) performs specific payroll operations as related to Cook Inlet Tribal Council. The Accounting Technician (General Ledger) will maintain financial records and performs various administrative duties.

Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Accounting Technician I (General Ledger):

  • Process a variety of financial documents within a computerized accounting system; may include:  financial transactions, journal entries, invoices, vendor checks, payroll transactions, account statements, authorizations, and purchase orders
  • Compile and sort invoices and checks
  • Enter and post daily cash receipts
  • Verify and post details of business transactions to the General Ledger.
  • Assist in collection of outstanding invoices as needed
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts as assigned
  • Maintain the cash management spreadsheet and posting bank transactions in the general ledger
  • Review and post employee credit card expense reports and follow up with outstanding transactions
  • Compose grammatically correct letters, memoranda, and other reports as requested
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with CITC partners and participants
  • Participate in scheduled meetings and trainings as requested
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


Accounting Technician II (General Ledger):

  • Assists with preparing adjustments and corrections from program financial meetings
  • Assists with managing shared email address for general ledger communications with the organization
  • Prepare monthly sub ledger reports that reconcile to the general ledger
  • Monthly reconciliation of assigned balance accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of month, quarter and year end reporting data
  • Assist in worker’s compensation and annual audits
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Accounting Technician  I (General Ledger

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three years data entry 
  • MS Office Experience (Outlook, Excel)


Accounting Technician II (General Ledger

  • Perform the functions of Accounting Technician I with proficiency
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Two years related professional general accounting experience. 
  • Experience in all relevant accounting functions, including: reconciliation, supporting documentation, journal entries. 


Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory report from a state and federal background check.
