Job Summary
This role is primarily responsible for coordinating and supporting Ketchikan Indian Community's State Small Business Credit Initiative program (SSBCI). Duties will involve coordinating and managing internal processes for program implementation along with managing Tribal Member borrower needs concerning program utility. Incumbent provides competent and relevant business advise, responding to queries and assists in navigating steps and procedures required within the program and KIC's Lender Partner's application requirements. This includes the provision of technical assistance to borrowers and assistance to optimize resources within the program.
This position will timely coordinate with KIC's lending partner and technical assistance providers alongside relevant internal KIC departments to provide assistance and coordination on different aspects of program implementation, including with Communications, Planning, Legal and Finance Departments. Assists with Treasury reports, program administrative duties, program research, etc. Take on additional responsibilities to meet Tribal Member needs and program development in support of the program.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Partner with SSBCI team to assume program management.
- Coordinate with KIC Legal, Finance, Administration and Communications Departments to implement KIC's Policy and Treasury requirements pertaining to SSBCI program administration.
- Collaborate with KIC's Lender Partner to maintain necessary communications and facilitate program implementation and further development.
- Create and execute implementation plan to achieve program goals and objectives.
- Work with KIC Communications department to develop and manage the outreach, marketing, and communications for all program activities and services.
- Ensure members are aware of and able to access SSBCI program offerings.
- Manage Tribal Member borrower intake via referrals to program resources to track client needs and progress.
- Develop robust partnerships with external stakeholders to advance the reach and impact of SSBCI program.
- Partner with KIC Administration, workforce development and Technical Assistance provider(s) to seamlessly integrate and strengthen the SSBCI Technical Assistance Program within KIC.
- Serve as the primary liaison for program updates to KIC Departments and external partners.
- Attend outreach events to promote KIC SSBCI program and technical assistance services.
- Follow up on small business client leads to provide intake for participation in the SSBCI program.
- Conduct research for clients by connecting them to appropriate resources, technical assistance and subject-matter experts to support the needs and goals of clients.
- Work with consultants, subject-matter experts, and KIC partners to identify solutions and technical assistance to help clients succeed in their business goals.
- Conduct consistent client engagement and respond to small business technical assistance needs.
- Track and competently refer clients to relevant program resources.
- Provide input, documentation and support for updates and reports for SSBCI Treasury reporting and as otherwise required by KIC, such as program impact reports.
- Executes assignments as directed by the Planning Director.

Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 1 Year experience in business consulting, small business management, or managerial consulting which must include business and marketing plan development, financial analysis, and financing options.
- 1 year experience related to economic and entrepreneurial development.
- Experience using Excel spreadsheets.
- A combination of relevant experience, education, and training may substitute for education and experience requirements on a year-for-year basis.
- Certification and/or license.
- Proof of valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience)
- Master's degree in a business related field.
- 3 years experience in business development, project management, and implementation of business activities in Tribal programs, economic development, and/or a nonprofit organization.
- Experience as an owner of a small business.
- Demonstrable experience establishing local economic development, community, and business relationships.
- Experience with training development and public speaking.
- Experience with public relations.
- Experience in community clinic preferred and a strong commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork.

- Skills in operating personal computers using a variety of computer software.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with management, coworkers, and outside contacts.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all applicable federal and tribal privacy laws and KIC policy (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.).
- Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures.
