-  Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, perform clinical pharmaceutical care for patients in collaboration with other pharmacists, physicians, and other healthcare providers and patients in an accurate and timely manner.

Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has a hiring preference for qualified Alaska Native and American Indian applicants pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination Act.

Summary:

Responsibilities:

-  Train to work in various pharmacies at ANMC, including Outpatient, Inpatient, Healthy Communities Building (HCB), Mediset, and Discharge/Transitions of Care.

-  Provide patient counseling, drug information, drug therapy consultation, and staff education.

-  Review patient profile and clinical status, labs, dosing intervals, and drug therapy combinations to assure safe and effective medication use.

-  Consult with healthcare providers on therapy recommendations as appropriate.

-  Conduct medication dispensing, compounding, order entry, and verification of all pharmaceutical activities.

-  Repackage and distributes prescription; performs compounding of IV, topical, and oral medications in an accurate and timely manner.

-  Document patient and procedural information. Follows proper billing procedures.

-  Restock bays and all other work areas with medications.

-  Perform inventory checks with inventory pharmacy technicians.

-  Answer phone calls and provides backup front desk customer service.

-  Contribute to department process improvement initiatives.

-  Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

-  Knowledge of pharmaceutical equipment and instruments.

-  Knowledge of the regulations and practice standards of pharmaceutical care.

-  Knowledge of drug names, drug strengths, and dosage forms.

-  Knowledge of applicable computer system software programs.

-  Knowledge of basic math.

-  Skill in using pharmaceutical equipment and instruments.

-  Skill in effective oral and written communication.

-  Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

**Active enrollment in a Doctorate degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy school program**

-  Possess a current State of Alaska Intern Pharmacist License at start date of hire.

 

PREFERRED CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

-  Hospital pharmacy technician experience.
