UAA General Support Services is recruiting for the position of Surplus Technician. UAA General Support Services (a unit within Facilities & Campus Services) is a diverse team that includes the Mailroom, Copy & Print Center, Surplus & Relocation, Property Operations, and Recycling functions. The Surplus Technician positions report to the Director of General Support Services with day to day coordination and training provided by the Surplus & Relocation unit Lead.

 

The UAA Surplus Technician/s primary responsibility is for pick up and delivery of surplus property items throughout campus as well as providing moving services for small to medium sized relocations on campus. This includes adhering to pick up/delivery schedule, ensuring all appropriate paperwork is completed and forwarded/filed as required. This position also will participate in inventory documentation and preparation of items for posting online to internal reallocation and public online auction website. All members of the Surplus team assist customers with questions over the phone, via email, and in person. This individual must serve as a steward of university property, always striving to guarantee the security and good condition of property and adherence to UAA, UA, and State of Alaska property requirements.

The successful candidate will be highly dependable, value timeliness, and possess the ability to interpret and adhere to policies, procedures, regulations. It is vital that the individual be comfortable with the daily physical demands of the position and can perform well as a member of a diverse team of individuals, while also being able to complete tasks independently.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Experience: Preferred two years of relevant experience related to physical moving operations and surplus/asset management or equivalent combination of training and experience. Demonstrated relevant customer service experience and computer profeciency.

 

Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of training and experience. Valid Alaska Driver's License; must meet and maintain UA safe driver verification criteria.

 

Position Details:

 

This position is located on the UAA Main campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/support/prospectiveemployees.php. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage.
