This Posting is for a Graduate Research Assistantship labor pool, meaning selected applicants will be considered for research assistant opportunities as they become available. Graduate Research Assistants work on externally funded research projects within the Office of Research to include: the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER), Center for Behavioral Health Research and Sciences (CBHRS), College of Engineering (CoEng), or College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP). Under the supervision of Principal Investigators, Research Assistants will collaborate with faculty and researchers on sponsored projects by supporting various research activities, which may include data collection and analysis, literature reviews, laboratory or field work, programming, report preparation, and other project-related tasks. The specific responsibilities and work schedule will depend on the assigned research project and available funding.

Applicants should have knowledge of basic research methods, data collection procedures, and research ethics. Ability to collect, organize, and maintain accurate research data and records. Skill in conducting literature searches and summarizing scientific or technical information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other standard computer software, with the ability to learn research-specific databases and software. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

Skills, abilities, and experience may vary according to Research Project needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree and enrollment in a Graduate Program at the University of Alaska.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UAA Campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a part time, exempt, union represented student position. Student pay is determined by degree level- Master's students will be paid a minimum of $25.67 and PhD students will be paid a minimum of $30.40 during Fiscal Year 2027.
